He started his second career as a software project manager after completing the Lonestar College (North Harris) 2-year certification program in Interactive Multimedia Production Management. After 18 months of project manager experience, he became founder and owner of Eagle Vision Digital (EVD), a full-service digital media company. One of his favorite EVD projects was creating the first interactive NCAA multimedia training program for collegiate officiating.
After receiving an invitation to become a Houston Advanced Research Center (HARC) affiliate company, he relocated EVD to their campus. Doug became their digital media consultant, providing his creative, strategic, and technical services. As a consultant to HARC, one major project he completed was for the Department of Defense - an updated military Interactive Electronic Training Manual (IETM), along with planned roadmap and technology gap analysis.
Doug became the only Texas Eagle Scout to earn every merit badge during the 20th Century in the Scouting program (90 years). He twice received the Hornaday Medal, often considered the nation's rarest conservation award (about 1100 presented in 105 years). For his initiative, service, and achievement, Doug received the Gold Congressional Award.
He is a mental health advocate and a volunteer with the Peace of Mind Foundation. Doug completely funded, researched, and developed SuicideTALK.com, a suicide prevention site which he also maintains. He resides in West Houston's Energy Corridor where he founded Social Media World LLC and also works as an independent consultant.
